Airport
Memanbetsu Airport is the air gateway to the Okhotsk region. It is located 20 km southwest of Abashiri City and 30 km northeast of Kitami City. There are 12 regular flight services per day. It is relatively close to world natural heritage sites such as Shiretoko, Lake Akan, Lake Kussharo and Lake Mashu, and is conveniently located as a base city for sightseeing in east Hokkaido.

Memanbetsu Airport - Abashiri Station/the urban area of Abashiri City
Abashiri Station is the base station for two lines: the Sekihoku Line for Kitami/Asahikawa/Sapporo area, and the Senmo Line for Shari/Kushiro area. In winter (every February), the tourist train "Ryuhyo Monogatari-Go" runs along the drift ice of Okhotsk.

Trains run from Kitami Station to Asahikawa/Sapporo area and Abashiri area. From the bus terminal in front of the station, buses for Onneyu Onsen, Rikubetsu and Memanbetsu Airport area arrive and depart.

Memanbetsu Airport - Lake Akan
Lake Akan, where the natural monument "MARIMO" silently resides, is lined with many hot spring inns and hotels. In summer, sightseeing boats and canoes are popular and pond smelt fishing on frozen lakes are also popular in winter. Also, "KAMUY LUMINA" (open form spring to autumn), which opened last year, is attracting attention.

Abashiri Station - Kawayu Onsen
A hot spring resort with a 'Declaration of 100% free-flowing hot spring' where a hot spring river flows through the hot spring resort area. There is also Mt. Iozan which is famous as the source of Kawayu hot spring, and you can enjoy the powerful sound and volcanic smoke as volcanic activity is still continuing.

Abashiri Station - Shiretoko Utoro
Shiretoko is registered as a World Natural Heritage Site. It is said to be the last unexplored region in Japan, and you could sometimes see animals that have been designated as natural monuments. The Utoro area is the center of Shiretoko and has many hot spring hotels and guesthouses.
