Akkeshi Municipal Ota Tonden Pioneering Museum
Hokkaido was opened up and defended by its colonizers using Meiji government policies.
It was the warrior class who settled in Akkeshi Ota, those settlers were the last samurai to colonize.
In 1991, this museum was opened to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the colonization.
