Kushiro Shitsugen Art Museum
Eisho Sasaki was a renowned painter as well as an accomplished fisher. He taught himself oil painting, and spent his life creating artwork inspired by Eastern Hokkaido's nature until he passed away in 2012. To preserve this great artist's work for future generations, Sasaki's friends and family endeavored to create a museum. They collected donations from throughout the nation to purchase and renovate the former 43 Degrees North Art Museum. In 2013, the Eisho Sasaki Memorial Art Museum was opened. Within, visitors can experience the life and works of Eisho Sasaki. His pictures of the Kushiro Wetlands allow us to see the beauty of nature in a new light.
