Tsubetsu Wood Exhibition Center
Tsubetsu Town is notable for its forests which cover 86% of the total municipal area. This small town boasts the nation's largest wood production. The Tsubetsu Wood Exhibition Center found amongst the trees here is a museum dedicated to wood. Step inside the impressive glass-faced triangular building to find... another forest inside! A number of real and mature trees stand to the ceiling amidst displays of plants, stuffed Yezo sika deer, and more. Relax with the scent of the forest and warmth of wood grain as you browse the woodcraft displays and shops. Visitors can also take part in a hands-on workshop of wood crafting taught by a knowledgeable instructor.
