Kushiro City Museum
Situated on a hilltop alongside Lake Harutori, Kushiro City Museum is a recognizable architecture with its striking image of the Tancho crane, a symbol of Kushiro's city bird, spreading its wings. As the appearance would suggest, the museum is perfect to learn about Kushiro's nature and history. Visitors will be captivated by displays including an enormous mammoth skeleton specimen, the jawbone of a blue whale, and intricate dioramas depicting the creatures of Kushiro's wetlands in their natural environments. There is also a large number of displays relating to Hokkaido's indigenous Ainu people.
