Higashimokoto Nyuraku Museum
The Nyurakukan (Dairy Products Center) uses fresh local milk to develop, manufacture, and sell dairy products. Here you can observe the dairy industry process or even try your own hand at making butter. Once a separate municipality, Higashimokoto Village has been merged into Ozora Town, but its name remains on this facility. Known for its booming dairy industry and excellent cheese, Higashimokoto had more dairy cattle than human population. Cold winds blowing from the Okhotsk Sea provide an ideal climate for dairy ranching and cheesemaking. The flavor of these local dairy products is heightened by tasting them surrounded by their history and authentic environment.
