Sugarbeets Museum
Sugar beet is a source of sugar, and perhaps the best-known agricultural crop of the Tokachi region. This museum was built in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Nippon Beet Sugar Manufacturing Co., Ltd. The two-story building features lofted ceilings, with the first floor displaying a scale model of the former Obihiro Sugar Beet Factory and a variety of related materials. On the second floor, visitors will find easy-to-understand presentations about sugar beet cultivation, the sugar manufacturing process, the beet sugar industry, and the history of sugar beets. Sugar is an important and popular part of our lives, so stop by to learn the fascinating history and technology behind a sugar beet.
