HigashiTaisetsu Nature Center
This building houses both the Ministry of the Environment Nukabira Gensenkyo Visitor Center and the Kamishihoro Town Higashi Taisetsu Museum, serving as a base for nature and sightseeing-related activities and information in the Higashi Taisetsu (Eastern) region of Daisetsuzan National Park. This wooden single-story building blends into the surrounding nature, with plenty of open space and natural warmth inside. The Nature Center has inherited the displays and collection of the former Higashi Taisetsu Museum, with a particularly impressive display of insect specimens from around the world, including butterflies and dragonflies. Well worth a visit.
