About 20 minutes on foot from JR Kushiro Station, located along the Kushiro River, you will find a brick building called "Kobunkan" (Port Culture Museum). It's quite close to Nusamai Bridge. As it is a restoration of the former Kushiro Shinbun Newspaper Company office building originally built in 1908, Kobunkan’s exterior gives nostalgic charm. The museum displays include plenty of materials about renowned poet Takuboku Ishikawa, who worked for Kushiro Shinbun as a journalist during a 76-day stay in Kushiro. There is a statue of Ishikawa next to the building. It also features a cafe area on the first-floor place offering for people to relax and interact with others.
