Takinoue Pink Moss Park
Come early summer, the entire park is draped in a pink blanket. Takinoue's townscape is covered with the sweet fragrance of moss phlox, a veritable world of flowers. Of course, there is a story behind the founding of this park. In 1957, "a mandarin orange box full" of moss phlox seedlings were planted at the entrance to Takinoue Park. Over the decades to come, the locals continued to nurture the flowers. One could say that the fields off moss phlox are the very embodiment of the townspeople's diligence and dedication. Today, Takinoue is home to one of Japan's largest flower parks. The town's catchphrase: "Our town is a bouquet". A wonderful story behind a wonderful sight.
