Takinoue Pink Moss Park
In the early summer, the entire park is draped in a pink blanket filling the whole town of Takinoue with the sweet fragrance of moss phlox. The origin of the flower cultivation began in 1957 when moss phlox seedlings were brought in a mandarin orange box and planted at the entrance of Takinoue Park. Since then the locals continued to nurture the flowers in expanding areas over the decades. One could say that the expanding fields of moss phlox symbolize the townspeople's diligence and dedication. Today, Takinoue is home to one of Japan's largest flower parks, known as “the flower-filled town.”
