Kussharo kotan, a settlement of Ainu people on Lake Kussharo.
The first to praise the beauty of the scenery in Hokkaido was Matsuura Takeshiro, referred to as the godparent of Hokkaido when he wrote of it in the Edo era
The purpose of building this resource center in 1983 was to introduce to visitors the lives of the Ainu people that lived on this land.
